Storytelling from the heart…
This picture was taken after having already photographed the wedding party and family in the lobby of the Saint Paul Hotel for this beautiful winter wedding. I noticed the bride’s Father had taken a silent moment way off from where all the action was. He was finalizing his notes for his Father-of the bride speech. One can only imagine the emotion, reflecting on 20+ years of memories with his baby girl, the love he has for her and the joys of parenthood. What do you say when you have 5 minutes to celebrate your daughter’s life and wish her well in this next journey? Words can’t possibly seem enough.
I moved on to the bridal room, taking a few more pictures of her in the last few moments before walking down the aisle. The room was elegant, warm and golden in the night with the stunning architecture of the Landmark Center just across the street. Despite the bustle of activity in the hallway outside, the bride, Angela, didn’t notice I entered the room. Her mind was focused on her loved ones as she reflected on want she wanted to say during the reception. In only a few hours, everyone that’s meaningful in her life would gather together to listen to her share her love and make a lifetime commitment.
So many of the things we want to say to our loved ones remain in our minds and are never spoken, but a wedding day presents the perfect opportunity to connect, speak from the heart and share that love. In the weeks following the wedding, I worked with the couple to finalize their album pages. The layout here became one of the most cherished memories from that day serving as a steadfast reminder of the impact that life has when we speak from the heart.
